El Desconcierto (the un-concert) was a project that involved the collaboration of two distinguished artists: David Rodriguez Gil, an exceptional cellist with a background in improvisational and experimental performance, and Marisol Ocadiz, a multidisciplinary artist and musician. The concept was to create a structured yet improvisational exchange, with Marisol utilizing a stage-like dining space to produce live visual art—painting while David performed music—each element dynamically influencing the other. This intentional improvisation required careful pre-planning to facilitate seamless interaction, resulting in an immersive and meaningful experience.
The event culminated in a rich, aesthetically compelling evening that resonated deeply with attendees, evoking a sense of warmth and intimacy characteristic of the pre-Christmas season. The visual aesthetic was centered on reds and pinks, complemented by red roses and candles, subtly suggesting an Asian-inspired motif. Overall, the success lay in the deliberate curation and support of the artists, allowing them to express their creativity fully, resulting in a powerful live meditation that revealed unforeseen layers of meaning beyond the purely spontaneous.
