The "Deconstructing the Rose" Series

The Deconstructing the Rose series marks my first effort to create a portable, sellable collection of mosaics, shifting from installed works within my home to pieces accessible to others. The first of the series was inspired by the Virgin Guadalupe and the roses at her feet. Then I still wanted to explore the theme and so I continued drawing inspiration from the iconic red roses at Womb that must be at least 80 years old.

The series began as literal depictions of roses, over time, I started deconstructing the form of the rose, exploring it in various iterations—some more abstract than others—delving into their universal and sacred significance.
